ancient egypt

thousand years ago the chain of independent city-states lining the River Nile united to form one long, thin country ruled by one king, or pharaoh. Almost instantly a highly distinctive culture developed. For almost 30 centuries Egypt remained the foremost nation in the Mediterranean world. Then, in 332 BC, the arrival of Alexander the Great heralded the end of the Egyptian way of life.

All ancient civilisations have contributed in some way to the development of modern society.

The unique culture was quickly buried beneath successive layers of Greek, Roman and Arabic tradition, and all knowledge of Egypt’s glorious past was lost. Only the decaying stone monuments, their hieroglyphic texts now unreadable, survived as silent witnesses to a long lost civilisation.

Some 2,000 years on, however, the ancient hieroglyphs have been decoded and Egyptology – the study of ancient Egypt – is booming. At a time when Latin and ancient Greek are rapidly vanishing from the school curriculum, more and more people are choosing to read hieroglyphs in their spare time. And the Egyptian galleries of our museums are packed with visitors, while the galleries dedicated to other ancient cultures remain empty.

Going to ERBIL

In ERBIL it is very hot and the houses are very tall and have 3 or 4 staircases. It has about six cities in it and in one of the city’s has a very fun park called Chavi Land with a water park and fun rides. I think the flag has a sun in the middle of the flag because it is very hot there.

Hey guys its me Ruth and this is my first post for a new year .

So today I will be talking about ancient Egypt but lets stop the gif gaf and lets get on

So ancient Egypt was a deserted land until somebody decided to rule it . the he commanded all of the people of the land who where born here ( not young children ) were working to make structures . The pharaoh was cruel , but everybody worshiped him because the thought he was a god

The Ptolemaic Dynasty ruled Egypt from 323 to 30 B.C., and most of its leaders remained largely Greek in their culture and sensibilities. In fact, Cleopatra was famous for being one of the first members of the Ptolemaic dynasty to actually speak the Egyptian language .

The Pyramid of Khufu at Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid. This incredible structure weighs as much as 16 Empire State buildings! Both Egyptian men and women wore make-up. The eye-paint was usually green (made from copper) or black (made from lead). As well as offering protection from the sun, the Egyptians believed make-up had magical healing powers, too! Unwrapped, the bandages of an Ancient Egyptian mummy could stretch for 1.6km. Yikes!

There are 700 Egyptian hieroglyphics and we only have 26 !Ancient Egyptians believed in more than 2,000 gods ! They had gods for everything, from dangers to chores! Each had different responsibilities and needed to be worshipped so that life could be kept in balance. Cats were considered to be a sacred animal by the Ancient Egyptians. It’s thought that most families kept a cat as a pet, which they believed would bring the household good luck

Love playing board games with your pals? Well, gang, so did the Ancient Egyptians! One popular game was Senet, which was played for over 2,000 years! The game involved throwing sticks (in the same way we throw dice) to see how many squares to move your piece forward on the board. The Ancient Egyptians invented lots of things we still use today, such as paper, pens, door locks, keys and – believe it or not – toothpaste!
